Feel that you have a basic understanding of EL Education, but you have a burning desire for more? Have you ever wondered why we only have student led conferences and not parent teacher conferences? Do you want to learn new ways to engage your students in school culture and academics? Then please come to the PPSEL EL 201 parent night on March 31st, from 5:30-6:30. The hour-long session will be facilitated by Jeneille Branen, Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Martha Martin our Regional EL School Designer. Martha visits our school monthly and provides EL professional development to our staff. Please RSVP to Jeneille Branen, firstname.lastname@example.org. We need at least 10 people for the class to be held.
The PPCS Annual Enrollment Lottery will be on March 25th @ 10:00am. We have open seats available for the 2016-2017 school year, and we would appreciate help in filling those spots! At PPCS we want to ensure that we are providing a quality education to a diverse group of students in and around Moscow. At PPCS we view as a gift and strength of our school community. We strive to have our school represent the mosaic of the City of Moscow. To help us out, please talk about the great things your students have been doing and learning at PPCS with your co-workers, friends and family. Encourage those interested to attend one of our school tours, and please remind them at our school is public and free to all. For those that can not make one of tour dates or times, they can always call our main office at (208) 882-3684 to schedule a tour at their convenience.
Tour Dates: March 11th, 18th from 8:30-9:30 (Spread the word!)
If parents went on an adventure and have photos they would like to submit for the yearbook, please email the full size picture to Janis email@example.com. Photos should be emailed no later than March 12.
The deadline for your students' Silverwood Reading Tally Sheets is here. Please have them to teachers by Wednesday at the latest. No Silverwood tally form will be accepted after Friday, March 11 at 8:30am. Call Trish in the office if you have questions or comments.
We know your students look forward to this opportunity for a free Silverwood ticket. Please help us ensure that no student's form gets missed. Check your students' backpacks to make sure they turned their forms in and please get them in as soon as possible. Thank you!
Host an Exchange Student
Elise Clausen, a local Moscow resident, has teamed up with CCI Greenheart, a non-profit dedicated to connecting people and planet through volunteer service and cultural exchange. She is in search of families to host high school exchange students for the upcoming 16/17 school year. According to Elise, "We take all types of families - large, small, empty-nesters, single folks, same sex couples, never had a child, you name it..." and adds, "we have over 160 students right now that we're looking to place, and it's my job to match students with families and to provide support and assistance through the process to ensure that everyone is happy." According to Elise, host families provide a separate bed, 3 meals daily, and local transportation. Students come prepared with appropriate visas, health insurance and spending money. Elise adds, "The process needn't be a difficult one. That is my job - to find families and students that share interests, and to help them both through the entire process from completing the application and picking up the student from the airport, to checking in monthly with both the student and family to ensure that things are going smoothly."
If you or anyone you know may be interested in hosing, please don't hesitate to contact Elise Clausen at (801) 875-8193or firstname.lastname@example.org. She is very eager to answer any questions you have or to provide more information. You may also see https://www.cci-exchange.com/host-families/ for more details.
