Have you gotten the Spring Cleaning Bug? Cleaning out old clothes? If so, be sure to set aside any clean, lightly worn kids, teen and women's clothing for our upcoming fundraiser for the Middle School Adventures to Orcas Island and McCall Outdoor Science School. We are coordinating with Schoola, an organization that helps schools fundraise through the sales of used clothing donated by individuals who want to support the school. 40% of all funds raised go directly to schools. PPSEL will be accepting donations the week of March 2nd, so get ready!!
Acts of Kindness
Last week at Community Circle we launched a school-wide mission of conducting acts of kindness. Each student received acts of kindness to pass along and then request the next person to pass it along. We received an email from a community member about an act of kindness their daughter experienced from one of our students:
“I just wanted to share with you a sweet encounter my daughter Jill relayed to me that happened Thursday. My 8th grade daughter and her group of friends were stopped to talk at an intersection on the way walking home from school. A small boy (perhaps 6 or 7 years old?) walked up to them and asked how they were doing and engaged them in conversation. The group, a bit perplexed since nobody knew this child, chatted amicably with him and then he handed them a small piece of paper. My daughter brought it home and it was titled "Act of Kindness" with instructions to approach someone you don't normally talk to.
Kudos to that sweet boy who stepped completely out of his comfort zone to speak to those 8th graders (who must have looked giant to him!) and ask them about themselves. I couldn't help but pass on this story so that you know what a little boy's act of kindness meant to us! Thanks for encouraging kids to keep the kindness going!”
- We are sad to announce that Mike Sauer, our facilities employee has decided to move outside Moscow to be closer to family. He was a great member of our PPSEL community, and we will miss him greatly. We are looking for volunteers to help with recycling, crossing-guard duty and cleaning. Contact Janis Steffens: email@example.com
- Remember to return your intent-to-return form into the office as soon as possible if you haven’t already!
- Reminder: Please remember to pick your child up in the pick up line. We have noticed families parking on the west side of the street and walking across the street for pick up, which is against our conditional use permit. We appreciate you helping us keep the students safe during dismissal.
