On November 1st, your child will be coming home with a progress report. As we grow and develop as a school community, we continue to finds ways to improve communication of student achievement. Many of our modifications are based on the feedback we receive from families. Toward this aim, teachers have created progress reports which communicate student progress. Our goal is to communicate progress toward specific long term learning targets before student led conferences to allow for reflection by parents and students prior to the event. This year, our school calendar does not have non-student school days for student-led conferences. Student led conferences will be taking place the week of December 7th. Teachers will be sending out communication in November to set up times that work for families.
As we approach another holiday season, I thought it was appropriate to remind all of us of some important policies that help us function in line with our mission. At Palouse Prairie School, we do not hold celebrations for holidays at school. Our focus is to celebrate learning. We also recognize student interest in wearing costumes around the Halloween time. In order to balance this interest with the needs and focus of our school we ask that if a child wears a Halloween costume to school, there is no face paint, masks, or accessories. In addition, and in alignment with our Wellness Policy, school staff will not give out any candy. We request that all families honor this policy by not having your child bring any candy to school.
No School for Students November 5-6, Art Workshops Available
Teachers will be hard at work in professional development on November 5-6, therefore there is no school for students. If you are needing childcare, we still have openings for the Art Workshop led by Celeste Woodland. On Thursday, she will be taking students to the Prichard Art Gallery to view the art by Lynne Haagensen. Her art focuses on Dances with History. After viewing and discussing Lynne’s work, students will create their own images using drawing, objects and scanner printers. On Friday, they will continue making art in connection with the gallery visit. Contact the office to enroll: email@example.com
Small Quilting Hoops Needed
If you have small quilting hoops, we would love to borrow them for an art workshop. Please bring in before Friday. Thanks!
