Moscow's newest school is a hub of activity these days.
The Palouse Prairie School of Expeditionary Learning will become Moscow's second active charter school this fall, and one of the six sanctioned by the state of Idaho to open each year.
Parent and trustee committees are hard at work planning school lunches, student nutrition programs and playgrounds.
Architects, contractors and volunteers have been moving, cleaning, painting, pouring concrete, erecting walls and making plans for several months now, and hope to have their building ready for students by mid-August.

Visits to surplus at WSU & UI are ongoing and continue to produce "big people" furniture. The furniture committee finished a process to identify and order (new) tables and chairs for little people. We are still waiting on word from EWU/Cheney about the fate of the furniture and other materials in the laboratory school that is closing on the EWU campus. Its not clear what things the district will take -- after all they need to absorb the kids back into the traditional schools. Could be we'll get more kid furnishings late this month. If you are willing to take a workday and go to Cheney to help load and haul stuff back, please contact Krista Kramer

An order got placed with Apple Computer for classroom computers and media center computers. This will give 3 computers per room and enough in the media center for state testing. Networking will get done in August after the contractor gets out of the way. |

On June 16 we signed the contract with Brown's Construction, and on June 18 they were cutting the concrete floor to access the plumbing. Nils is trying Twitter and Snap2Twitter to get pictures online. You can follow the #PPSEL hashtag here. Want something more conventional -- here is the Flickr portfolio for the construction. A few snafus with plumbing under the floor seem to be turning up-- the sewer pipe is not big enough. |

Our architect, Jerry Brotnov, will do the bid opening 2:15PM June 3. The Board will review the low bid, and we expect, accept it and start construction soon after. |
